Vittore Montegue is a bounty hunter who specialises in targets with "supernatural" traits, such as shapeshifters, amphibians, energy beings, Force sensitives, Anzati, Felacatians, Lupines, and similar. He also occasionally hunts naturally monstrous creatures such as rancors and krayt dragons when they pose a threat to civilian settlements. Unlike most bounty hunters, Vittore will actively seek targets based on newsreels and incident reports, often bringing him into conflict and cooperation with local law enforcement. At times he has been forced to collect on more mundane bounties in order to cover his expenses.

Currently, Vittore Montegue is "on retainer" for Emelie Shadowstar, whose life he saved from a Force sensitive Clawdite assassin. Vittore lives and travels aboard the Crimson Tide, a Baudo-class star yacht. His pride and joy is a vintage BTL-B Y-Wing starfighter, which he calls the Hunter II. Vittore is particularly fond of referring to himself as Captain, despite the fact that he has a crew of only one.

History

Vittore was born on Cularin during the Clone Wars. His father was a Senate Commando, though he retired shortly after the War. Hugo had met Vittore's mother when his Commando unit was sent to investigate the reappearance of Cularin, which had vanished without a trace ten years earlier, and a whirlwind romance had ensued. The two married soon after and lived together on Coruscant, but Emaryn returned to Cularin during the war so their son would be born "at home".

When Vittore's younger brother was only six months old, his secretly Force sensitive mother succumbed to the Dark Side and attacked his father, who was forced to kill her in self defense. That started Hugo Montegue's life-long xenophobic obsession with the "supernatural": an obsession he passed onto his children. Even more so than his brother, Vittore was raised to be a soldier, trained to fight and kill from an early age and instilled with a sense of obligation to rid the galaxy of what his father saw as aberrations. When his father mysteriously disappeared, Vittore attempted to continue the "family business" with his brother, and then later on his own.

While hunting a Shifter, Vittore inadvertently saved the life of Emelie Shadowstar; and again when the bounty hunter Chir'daki arrived to finish where the Shifter had failed. Hired to uncover the reason behind the hit, Vittore was sent to Nar Shaddaa to find a trusted slicer contact of Shadowstar's, who had fallen off the grid. Finding Sadie K'Vesh abused and imprisoned, he saved her and brought her back to Cloud City, where he eventually became one of Shadowstar's full-time employees.

Family

Hugo Montegue is Vittore's father, though to Vittore he was more of a drill sergeant. Hugo would frequently leave his sons alone, expecting Vittore to look after and protect his younger brother. Hugo was captured by Imperial Intelligence years ago, and brainwashed into a sleeper agent; though he reconnected with his children following his release, he has since disappeared again and his whereabouts are unknown.

Emaryn Montegue is Vittore's mother. She was secretly Force sensitive and, under the influence of a powerful Darksider from half-way across the galaxy, injected Vittore's brother with doses of midichlorians in the hopes of triggering his own sensitivity. She was killed by Vittore's father, in self defense.

Cambrio Montegue is Vittore's brother, and an infrequent thorn in his side. The two hunted together for a few years, but have since gone their separate ways.

Elroy Kripke is an old friend and colleague of Vittore's father, who helped raise the brothers. Nostalgic for familiarity and family, Vittore modified his droid Sleazy to sound a little more like Uncle Roy.

Sadie K'Vesh is a girl that Vittore rescued from an abusive relationship on Nar Shaddaa; not because he was paid to, but because it was the right thing to do. Seeing someone so undeserving subjected to such horrible treatment had a profound impact on Vittore and, while he would never admit it, keeping her safe has become one of his highest priorities: an opportunity for him to be the good guy, for a change.
