Lon'shak is an elderly Twi'lek male who came to Coruscant long ago to find work and met and married another Twi'lek. They have three children together, two of which are still with them, and are proud grandparents.
| Childhood

 A heat storm approaching as the clan flees Born into the Shak Clan on Ryloth, Lon was somewhat priviliged from an early age in that he could partake of his clan's dealings with the outer world traders. The Shak clan was reknowned to raise fine merchants, and broker deals with outlanders.
Lon grew up with his five siblings, two of which fell victim to the planet's harsh conditions early on during Lon's life. The youngest in his family, his parents and siblings always took special care that nothing bad befall him, and he enjoyed his childhood in spite of the obstacles that the planet would throw at their feet. Several times the Shak clan had to leave behind their entire belongings and start afresh, as lethal heat storms scoured the lands clean of life.
Lon was a bright student, absorbing knowledge and taking pleasure in learning. When the time came to chose a profession, Lon surprised everyone by not following in his clan's footsteps but by wanting to become an engineer instead. So the clan got together, credits were gathered, connections were used, and at the end of it Clan Shak had devised a way to enable their brightest son to leave the world and make his fortune in the Galaxy - they sent him to the famous Rigovian Technical university.

| The Rigovian Technical University was an interesting experience for Lon. Being the only Twi'lek at the university - and usually the only male Twi'lek his classmates and professors had ever seen - as well as one of only a few non-humans at the university made for interesting times. Far from suffering under racial discrimination, this usually just meant making his comrades relate to him as anything other than an interesting case study in alien biology.
He graduated after 3 years with distinction, and with many commendations from his professors - and decided to follow one of them all the way to Coruscant, where Corellidyne Holographics was very interested in this bright young man.

| Unfortunately for him, the recommendation to Correlidyne had neglected to mention he was not human. This was not so much an issue at the beginning, when the company was more interested in qualified staff. Lon liked his new job, working on new holographics designs and technologies, and his employers were happy with his work.
But as the Republic got exchanged for Palpatine's Empire, the alien bias gradually took hold in all areas of life, and Lon's bright career came to its early zenith as Correlidyne's pro-Empire board of directors decided to not take any unnecessary risks by elevating non-humans over humans. So Lon, having reached the level of junior engineer, saw himself stuck there, with no room for improvement.
