Thread: 100 million dollar movies of 2009 and Avatar Box office discussion

  1. #21
Of course inflation has changed things what was once a 100 million movie would have been a 80 million movie not long ago. 2009 was a record year in terms of box office but attendance is still way off from the early part of the decade.

The early part of the decade had those big 3 and a half movie series:
    LOTR
this prequel thing some people were talking about all the time
the Matrix (I just recently found out that somebody made a sequel to that movie)
Pirates of the Caribean (unfortunately another guy had the same idea for this movie)

Yeah the first few years had some big movies, add two harry potter movies and Spiderman and that makes it even bigger.
