The Fate of the Galaxy: Kuat

Out of the abyss of hyperspace, an enormous structure emerges, setting upon an inexorable course to the strongest planet in the New Republic: Kuat. The ship, if it could be so called, was a jumble of various objects that seemed to have been assembled onto themselves in a manner that suggested the design was foolish. Hulls of derelict craft and other bits of space wreckage could be seen, forming a jumbled and shapeless weapon.

This assumption was unwise. The AI goddess IMPLEMENT had forseen the creation of this 12.8 kilometer long fortress. It was known simply as a Reaver...an automated instrument of death that had no other intrinsic capacity. Since her banishment from Coruscant a year ago, she had longed for revenge, plotting to tear all foolish carbon-based life forms from their pitiful control of that which belonged to her. Their feeble powers were wasted warring against each other. Such inefficient creatures...they would even be inadequate for servants. Annihilation was the only due course. While looking haphazard and quite unpleasing to the eye, the ship was tailored with perfection to complete its tasks.

The monster of space loomed forward at sublight speed, ready to enter the Kuat system and break the spine of the New Republic's battle fleet, and annihilate their homeworld. Tactical analysis indicated that this Reaver would be adequate to accomplish this mission. Undistracted, the ship loomed toward Kuat, preparing to unleash the apocalypse.

Red klaxons blared on the battle bridge, as Rear Admiral Milom Sargast prepared his plan of attack. Sensor confirmation had been reported five minutes ago...and judging by the size of the ship, visual confirmation wasn't long off.

    "Ensign, sensor analysis" He ordered.

A sandy-haired New Republic ensign worked diligently at his station.

    "Enemy contact confirmed, sir."

    "Details?"

"One ship, bearing 126 mark 45, at 20 MGLT."

    Sargast turned in his chair.

"Prepare sector seven for initial contact. Move the Liberty toward the forward wing of frigates. Signal NR fleet command...we have confirmation. One...contact...bearing unquestionably for home base. Lieutenant Tanser, I want a tactical schematic ASAP."

A bluish hologram appeared in front of Sargast, as Tanser dutifully compiled sensor readings into a workable view of the enemy ship. Sargast's mouth gaped.

    "By the Force..."

    Tanser's voice was shaky.

"Reports confirm length of one hundred fifty kilometers, sir."

    "I believe them."

The Admiral bit his lower lip, turning back to his communications officer.

"Inform Kuat command...enemy strength...vast. Reccomend code word delivery for full contingeny. Full fleet activation urgently requested."

Such a sudden, and horrifying threat chilled Sargast to the core.

    "Inform all commands...prepare for combat."
