    Ulysses Johnson
    Guest
    Name: Ulysses Johnson, Lt. Commander
    Position: Records Officer, NCC-1702

The role of Records Officer is not a glamorous one, but it remains an essential part of a starship's crew. The Records Officer is responsible for reviewing and cataloguing mission and departmental reports, updating personnel files and tackling any associated humanoid resources issues, and for maintaining the operation, security, and redundancy of the ship's databases. They are also the de facto chief of the ship's clerical staff, coordinating the duties of yeomen and requisitions officers, without whom the ship simply would not function: thus making the Records Officer one of the most vital members of the crew.

Or at least, that is what Ulysses Johnson will insist, if you ever have the misfortune of finding yourself on the receiving end of one of his long-winded explanations.

Commander Johnson was reassigned to the Valiant from a Starfleet archive in London. Despite that seemingly mundane posting, Johnson's service record boasts a level of experience and leadership aptitude sufficient to see him appointed as the officer commanding the Night Shift. Many would embrace such a role as an opportunity for career advancement, but Johnson sees it merely as a necessary evil to distract from his other duties. Johnson is not antisocial per se, and he does possess people skills: he just often chooses to avoid doing so, which in turn encourages other members of the crew to avoid him and let him have the peace and quiet he prefers.

    Dr. Ysherren
    Guest
    Name: Dr. Anshorr Ysherren
    Position: Xenopsychologist, NCC-1702

(Note: since we know nothing about this species aside from the name of one member who served aboard the USS Kelvin and the name of their homeworld, I'm taking broad creative liberties with them. All this will eventually go on the wiki!)

The Tzo are a peaceful humanoid species hailing from the planet Monchezke in the Beta Quadrant. Although they joined the Federation shortly after their discovery, there are few of their number in Starfleet, and many other humanoids have difficulty relating to them because of their unique psychology. As they mature, Tzo naturally develop a fugue consciousness, a condition humans have termed multiple personality disorder. An individual Tzo acquires new personalities in response to significant life events, such as moving to a new home, starting a new career, or suffering a major trauma. These personalities may manifest different interests, different beliefs, different skills, and even different genders. On rare occasions, a new personality may assume dominance over the original, sometimes triggering a physical sex change. This is considered a natural part of life. For a Tzo, mental health means negotiating a mutually acceptable arrangement among one's various personae.

In 2248, the individual known as Ysherren attended Starfleet Academy as Yshe Ysherren, a female astrophysicist. Upon her graduation, she was commissioned as a junior science officer aboard the USS Yamato. For five years she served with distinction until the Yamato was caught in the crossfire of a fierce skirmish between the Gorn and the Tholians. Stranded aboard a crippled starship in deep space with rescue weeks away, Yshe found herself unable to cope and gave birth to a new personality, who assumed the name of Anshorr. Anshorr provided the stability and compassion that Yshe and her remaining crewmates needed to survive their ordeal, and, following their rescue, Ysherren took an extended leave to the Tzo homeworld of Monchezke, where Anshorr blossomed into a dominant personality and effected a sex change to male.

The newly born Anshorr Ysherren chose to pursue a doctoral degree in xenopsychology to maximize his talents, then returned to Starfleet Academy to receive training as a Starfleet psychologist. Yshe remains an important part of his chorus of personae, often providing a valuable alternate perspective on the challenges of his field.

    Fáelán Lowell
    Guest
    Name: Fáelán Lowell, Ensign
    Position: Engineer, NCC-1702

From an early age, Lowell developed a knack for dismantling everything he could get his hands on. Unfortunately, it took several more years for him to learn to put them back together again, much to the frustration of his single father, an officer with Starfleet Security. Fáelán's father had always hoped he would follow in his footsteps and become a security officer himself: but while Fáelán's technical proficiency was profound, his physical abilities were somewhat lacking. Fáelán did eventually apply to Starfleet Academy but, after failing to achieve the necessary aptitude scores for security training, he was enrolled on an engineering course instead.

Fáelán was part of the team that assisted with the in-orbit installation, calibration, and testing of ancillary systems aboard the USS Enterprise NCC-1701. He was still aboard during the ship's mission to Vulcan but, after the traumatic experience that the ensuing space battles and near death experiences provided, he chose to transfer off the ship as soon as they returned to Earth. He joined the shakedown detail aboard the USS Valiant NCC-1702, and while he is still a competent engineer, he is considerably more jumpy as a result of his experiences.

    Charlie Harmon
    Guest
    Name: Lt. Charlie Harmon
    Position: Nurse, NCC-1702

Born while her parents were stationed on Starbase-24, she is the only child of Virginia and Russell Harmon, a Starfleet Engineer and Starfleet Doctor, respectively. She spent her childhood and teen years aboard different ships, starbases, and installations, which gave her a unique appreciation for those of different species and cultures. Charlie showed an aptitude for science at an early age, and a fascination for medicine that her father was more than happy to foster. By the time she turned eighteen, she had been her father's assistant for two years in addition to having completed paramedic training.

Upon her acceptance to Starfleet Academy, Charlie set foot on Earth for the first time in her life. Between the novelty of being on a planet full of humans and her intense studies, it took her a while to settle in comfortably. Eventually she found her footing and excelled, graduating near the top of her nursing class. Her first posting after graduation was at Starfleet Medical, where she served in the trauma unit and was one of those who helped treat the injured who made it back from the destruction at Vulcan. Soon after, she was transferred to the USS Valiant where her experience and training could best be put to use.
