I was wanting to download a game from the internet, but it says that it requires a DVD rom...I currently have a a cd rom and was wondering if the game would not play because of that?

If you are downloading the game and installing it from an internet-based setup file, I don't see why you would need a DVD drive.
Uh just buy a $20 dollar DVDROM drive, unless you're getting it from something like Steam, in which case the DVD check will be removed. You should get a DVDROM/DVDRW anyway.
