Not to be mistaken with the Victory II-class Star Destroyer, the Victory II-class Frigate was a large support vessel used by the Republic.

Design

Its design was reminiscent of large command ships like the Super Star Destroyer Vengeance, due to the large wing-like extension on each side of the ship's rear, as well as its slim profile. The Victory-II class star frigate was designed originally to be a cruiser tender, for use only to escort the bigger ships. However, some other variants were created for anti-starfighter use. It also roughly resembled Vindicator-class heavy cruisers in shape and size, and had a small, slim bridge-section quite like the Acclamator-class assault ship. Its armament included several heavy turbolaser turrets, and it was powered by three large ion engines.

History

It is unknown what exact role the Victory II frigate had within the Republic Navy and Imperial Navy's strategy, but their deployment suggest it was at least not uncommon for them to serve as escorts. It can be assumed that the Victory II-class frigates fulfilled assignments largely similar to those of other frigates. Ships of this class participated in the Blockade of Yavin during the Galactic Civil War. These were first used by the Republic, then the Empire. These ships had very few stolen from the Empire, instead the Rebel Alliance decided that the Nebulon - B was a better steal.
