Montegue: Origins

Montegue: Origins is a four-part series that establishes some of the backstory for the Montegue Family. There are currently six planned installments, charting the transition of Hugo Montegue from a family man and Imperial loyalist to a lawless bounty hunter on a quest for revenge.

It is followed by a sequel series of threads that fill in the gaps in the Origins timeline and expands on the histories of some of the supporting characters, titled Montegue: Chronicles.

Montegue: Origins - Genesis

A year after the end of the Clone Wars, Senate Commando Hugo Montegue returns home from a mission assisting with the Jedi Purge, to find his wife performing some ritual or experiment on his infant son. Exposed as a secret Force Sensitive, Emaryn attacks; Hugo is forced to defend himself, apparently ending her life. She somehow survives however, and after Hugo flees to her homeworld of Cularin, Emaryn follows to finish whatever schemes she started.

Montegue: Origins - Exodus

Two years after the death of his wife, Hugo Montegue finds himself working as a mechanic and pilot with an import/export firm on Junction. His obsession with the supernatural has continued to grow, and after he hears rumours of unexplained murders on Ord Anor - the next destination on his flight plan - he drags his brother Victor along to begin waging his private war against the paranormal.

Montegue: Origins - Acts

Twenty years after Emaryn's death, Hugo sets out on a journey of reconciliation. After one of his sons is placed in danger, he sets out on a hunt to find the person responsible, but along the way soon discovers that he himself is being hunted, by one of the galaxy's most insatiable Bounty Hunters. His pursuit takes him to several worlds: but will he complete his objective before Chir'daki is able to complete his?

Montegue: Origins - Revelations

Released from Imperial captivity, Hugo is reunited with his sons, but his memory is a twisted husk of what it used to be. A shocking dream and a visit to a haunting relic of his past leads to a number of chilling revelations, and sparks an adventure that influences the lives of almost everyone that Hugo has ever known. The thrilling conclusion of the Origins saga!

This unwritten installment charts the exploits of Mandan Hidatsa and Inyos Aamoran in the immediate fallout of the Jedi Purge.

Montegue: Chronicles - Kings

Rather than being dead, Emaryn finds herself trapped on Ord Ithil - a planet blanketed by the Dark Side. Unable to leave on her own, she uses her steadily developing Force powers to lure in one of the Jedi living in hiding since the Purge. Mandan Hidatsa and Inyos Aamoran are unsuspectingly lured to her domain, and become embroiled in her schemes for escape.

Montegue Family

• Hugo Montegue - A Senate Commando during the Jedi Purge, Hugo uncovered that his wife was Force Sensitive. After she attacked Hugo and their family, Hugo went partially into hiding, creating a new life for himself on Junction. He has developed a displaced deep-seated anger aimed at any being that he percieves as being "supernatural", and has made it his mission to hunt down and kill such creatures and people wherever and whenever possible.

• Emaryn Montegue - A young woman from Cularin that Hugo met and married on their travels, she moved to Coruscant to live with Hugo after her planet ceded from the Republic during the Clone Wars. Revealed to have been hiding her Force Sensitivity - during the height of the Jedi Purge and related paranoia - Emaryn attacked her family and was forced to flee to the planet of Ord Ithil, though not before injecting her son with a sample of her blood in the hopes of awaking his own latent Force powers.

• Victor Montegue - The brother of Hugo Montegue, and also a Sector Ranger for a time, he eventually left his job to become Hugo's partner. During one of their missions, Victor was mortally wounded and left for dead by his brother. He is the namesake of Vittore Montegue.

• Cambria Kansas - Emaryn's elder sister. After Hugo's escape from Coruscant, she briefly harboured the family. When Emaryn arrived to try and take back her children, Cambria sacrificed herself to ensure that the rest of the Montegues could get to safety. She is the namesake of Cambrio Montegue.

• Vittore Montegue - The eldest of Hugo and Emaryn's two sons, Vittore idolises his father, and views his bounty hunter lifestyle with a sort of mystical awe. Only three years old when his mother died, Vittore remembers very little about her.

• Cambrio Montegue - The younger of Hugo's children, Cambrio was six months old when his mother attempted a transfusion of Midichlorians, to catalyse his latent Force Sensitivity. Because of this, Hugo - unknowingly - views him with a certain suspicion, and that has hampered the development of their relationship.

Additional Characters

• Elroy Kripke - A former Supervisor of Hugo's from the Senate Commandos, he was Hugo's employer for a time when they worked at Kripke Transit on Junction. After selling the company's transport ship (the Coromon) to Hugo, he set up business buying and selling military surplus.

• Jorran Nichol - The co-pilot of the Coromon during its affiliation with Kripke Transit. Joe served as the pilot during Hugo's first (unofficial) hunting mission, but was killed when a shapeshifter attempted to steal the ship.

• Nora Nichol - Wife of Jorran, and another employee at Kripke Transit. After her husband's death she left her job, and started a new life as manager of a cantina. She doesn't blame Hugo for Jorran's death, but is angered that he continued as a Hunter, rather than learning from his 'mistake'.

• Jo Nichol - The daughter of Jorran and Nora Nichol, named for her father; she is an employee in her mother's cantina. After hearing Hugo's story of how her father died, she wants to follow in his footsteps so that she can get 'revenge' against the exotic creatures of the galaxy as well.

• Chir'daki - A Bounty Hunter hired by R.S. Esalis to capture Hugo Montegue.

• Amaros Koine - A Mandalorian in hiding on Naboo since the Clone Wars. As Amos Iakona, he worked with Hugo and Victor on a number of occasions. For a time, he volunteered as a member of the Naboo Security Forces, before retiring to a life as a farmer after his divorce.

• Amos Iakona - The son of Amaros Koine, "Amos Junior" was also a Naboo volunteer, until he was conscripted into the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps. He served as a Scout Trooper for a time, before being dishonourably discharged, and eventually finding his way into the Rebellion. As yet, he is unaware of the fact that his father is Mandalorian, or that he is the nephew of Mandan Hidatsa - a Jedi.

• Inyos Aamoran - A survivor of the Jedi Purge, Inyos travelled to Ord Ithor along with Mandan Hidatsa a decade ago, before becoming ensnared by the same dark forces that trapped Emaryn Montegue there. Manipulated by the dark side, he killed both Mandan and Emaryn; though the human in him is tormented by what he has done, some unknown force will not permit him to die.

• Mandan Hidatsa - Inyos' long term companion, he was lured to Ord Ithor by Emaryn, before being killed by Inyos as a result of her mind games. Unable to leave the planet, he was unable to become one with the Force, but has since learned to manifest his spirit as a Force Ghost. He is the sister of Cheyenne Iakona (née Hidatsa): Amos Iakona's mother.
