She had grown used to the redolence of scorched flesh, timber, quarry, and vagary. Now, it was just the air she inhaled, the thick smog that she thrived on. She had spent so much time in the dismal mountain bellies that she barely recalled the crisp brush of sunlight, the slender refresh of growing pine, and air that was not stagnant with billows of smoke. She was certain now such sweetness would crumble the thick wall of ice she had built around her once frail demeanor. She never wanted to be that full of fluff and dalliance ever again.

To survive in such a place, she had to rid herself of such flaws. The natives of this world had made sure to crush it out of subsistence with their harsh ways. They had built her into an agnate abomination that mirrored their coarse existence near perfectly. She was one of them, though it had taken time. She walked among their number freely, anything before her life on Daethira mattered very little to them. It was better forgotten. And yet, she couldn't push it entirely from her mind.

Razielle...

Imagine her surprise to come home from the academy to learn that her planet had been utterly destroyed. By whom? She could only speculate in that knowing way of hers. It was something she often dwelled upon when she was in the privacy of her room - writing, reading, watching broadcasts that happened to match frequency with her tempermental device. It had been some years since she had seen her sister's face. The last place she anticipated on seeing it was on such a device. She was all dressed up like some royal's precious kewpie doll.

Wincing, she leaned forward and listened more intently to the report. Just as she did so, however, it cut out. A slew of curses and angery screams soon followed. Then, things began breaking with Jez's wrathful assistance. All the while, the clan members that resided on the other side of her bedroom door stared in shock as the very foundation of the chamber seemed to rattle.

She seems a bit tense lately. Eos, what is wrong with her?

"I'm sure it has something to do with her human problems. We have tempers, but we don't maim things over trivial matters such as that. She is always talking about leaving this place. Perhaps it is about time.."

We wont survive much longer if her anger continues to grow. For once, I think we are being a bad influence on the girl. Thank the stars that she blended in with us from the start. I can only dread what she would have been like with the more brutal kith.

"The Elders will not be pleased when they find out she has left us. We must do this very quietly. She needs our help, Fenris."

That she does....
