Drexel Kane was born to Ezra and Serenity Kane. Ezra, a Bakuran Senator, and Serenity a Rebel Alliance deserter. Growing up in his father's mansion had done little but to spoil young Drexel. His parents spoiled him rotten, giving him anything he could ever want. He valued himself over the other children, who did not have a father with a senator's payroll and thus less fortunate then him. His life was nothing but pomp and frill till the day the world came crashing down. The Galactic Civil war was going badly, for both sides, so the Empire unleashed Omega-7, a toxin their scientists developed but found no use for. In a last ditch effort to eradicate the Rebel Alliance, the Empire released Omega-7 on numerous Rebel controlled planets. The toxin was lethal within days and highly contagious. The populations of those planets were quickly cut down, only a rare few managed to survive the toxin. Nearly all non-humans perished, the toxin formulated to agree with the Empire's xenophobic ideals. But the toxin spread, as the inflicted were shuttled off-planet to better medical facilities. Soon half the colonized planets in the galaxy were infected, now including Imperial ones as well. Over half the galaxy's population was decimated. Bakura was not exempt from this. Many died, although not as many due to Bakura's distance from the galactic core. Among the victims was Serenity, Drexel's mother. Him and his father, among the rest of Bakura's surviving population, locked themselves in underground facilities to shelter themselves from the toxin.

They spent months down there before finally emerging, after the toxin had run it's course, run out of bodies to infect and slowly dissolved away. Worlds populations were ravaged, but the planets themselves were left intact, the toxin not effecting plant or mineral, only the living body. In the aftermath the Rebel Alliance crumbled away, it's forces decimated. The Empire was weakened, but not destroyed. The world fell into chaos. The survivors took to stealing and looting, going mad with the weight of the circumstances. Brother was pitted against brother, and everyone was looking out for themselves. Bakura was among the worst planets in this. So removed from core, they could not get any help from what few Imperial peacekeepers remained, who were busy keeping the peace and enforcing law on Coruscant and other core worlds. Bakura's streets were painted red in the meantime, as looters became murders, killing each other for material objects.

This sudden change from rich to poor was too much for teenage Drexel to take. He became mad, developing ASP like symptoms, perhaps which had been laying dormant within him all the time. He joined in the looting, and the murdering, and became bane to the more civilized people of Bakura who refused to fall into madness, including his father. His father used his former fame as Bakura's senator to exempt his son of his crimes, but this only served to drive Drexel into further madness. He did not want his father covering for him, so he took a piece of pipe and beat his father to death, and all that tried to stop him.

This blind madness was later revealed as an aftereffect of the Omega-7 virus. While the actual molecule breaking toxin was gone, another gas was released when it dissipated, a nerve gas that heightens a person's base senses, making them more animal. Hate, lust, greed, these senses took the lead of the minds of those infected, overriding all sense of morals and making even the most docile of person able to commit the most heinous of acts. Drexel was one of these.

After it was all finally over, both the Omega-7 and the aftermath nerve gas gone, the galaxy should have began reconstruction. Instead, the Imperial Parliament seized control of all planets, becoming perhaps more totalitarian and tyrannic then ever before. Their "Peacekeepers" a new form of Stormtrooper heavily armed, were placed on all planets to uphold the law. Any lawbreakers were executed on sight. There was no quarter whatsoever. No trials, no judges, no juries. If even suspected of crimes, a person was shot dead wherever the Peacekeepers found him or her. Public gathering were banned, rights revoked. People became prisoners in their own homes.

Drexel Kane was among the people who resisted the Peacekeepers on Bakura, killing all that came. Marshal law was declared and Parliament forces road in and decimated the planet's population, bombarding the planet from space, killing both rebels and civilians alike. Drexel was among the few that survived, and was quick to leave the now uninhabitable planet. Seeking revenge, he traveled to Coruscant, a ghost town of a planet with barely a quarter of it's population still alive. Drexel, and other rebels, found the laboratory where what was left of the Omega-7 toxin was kept, put away to never be used again unless needed. They fought their way into the facility, stole the toxin, and then placed the capsules all over the planet, which were detonated once they were gone. Coruscant become enveloped in the toxin cloud, all life was destroyed. The toxin did not dissipate quickly, and the planet became completely uninhabitable. The Imperial Cabinet, those that survived, relocated to Eclipse, the planet at the center of the galaxy. Eclipse became a stronghold, it's natural asteroid field making any naval invasion difficult.

His objective impossible, Drexel gave up his rebel warpath, and focused on just surviving life. The nerve gas that drove him mad eventually filtered out of his body, leaving him an empty man horrified by his actions. He fell into drug use, buying Glitterstem and other drugs off the black market, which became much easier once the Imperial Parliament gave up on outer-rim planets, focusing on only those closer to the core. The outer-rim became known as Lawless space, where anything went. Here Drexel fell deeper into drugs, but he also became a biomod junkie. He used biomods that increased every aspect of his being, using stolen credits to pay for them. The ranks of the Jedi and Sith had been completely destroyed during the Omega Crisis, but with the use of biomods, Drexel was able to give himself great control over the force. Which he used to any means he saw fit.

He became an aimless wanderer, calling himself Zereth Lancer after faking his own death to throw off Imperial assassins. He became a mercenary of sorts, hiring himself out to people if their cause interested him at all, and his taste shifted every day. He became a bit of a legend, a man reported to have killed a thousand peacekeepers, who did not fear Parliament. He was identified by his blood red ragged coat, his long locks of white hair and red eyes (side-effects of his numerous biomods). He carried a sword and a pair of blasters fashioned after olden slugthrowers, only they shot lasers. Despite his force powers and how he considered himself a sith, a term now benign, he never attempted to construct nor use a lightsabre.

In Character

Zereth Lancer went through many character changes during the first year of his existence on SWfans. At first he was a armed madman turned assassin that killed for the joy of it and had dreams of becoming a sith one day. In a later form he was plagued with an rare illness that caused him great spasms of pain. The illness forced him to kill in order to obtain the credits to buy a medication that suppressed the illness and kept the spasms at bay. A few other forms existed for short periods of time, but they have been forgotten. At last a final version of Zereth Lancer was created. In this version Zereth was an escaped experiment turned sith. Zereth was kidnapped off the streets of his home world of Corellia by the infamous Zanon O'hara; a mad genetic scientist. Zereth was experimented on and his body was altered on the genetic and even the molecular level and turned into the 'perfect' warrior.

Zereth Lancer just after being augmented by Zanon O'hara.

The man who would become known as Zereth Lancer started life as any other. He had difficulties, being half-human and half-nagai. He was always the object of jokes and insults, with his pale skin, spiky black hair, and strong, lithe body. He was picked on either out of racism or jealousy. Some hated him because he was a halfer, impure in their eyes, or they were jealous of his already budding body, which was already developing the small, strong muscles of the Nagai. For eight years old he was agile and strong already, and the other kids knew it, and they picked on him any way they could to make up for where they lacked. But the other children were not the only who noticed. A budding scientist and already master geneticist by the name of Zanon O'hara, who was on Corellia at the time, took notice of the ripe specimen of strength and agility, and was quick to seize the child. He left the planet before authorities could apprehend him.

From there the child was subjected to numerous experiments, as well as physical and mental conditioning. Zanon then employed his skills of genetics to literally take the child apart, and put it back together as he saw fit. The process was slow, taking nearly twenty years before he was finally finished. The result was a not a child, but a man, who possessed vast strength and even greater dexterity. Created large, standing nearly seven feet tall, with a lean, and muscular body, his spiky black hair diminished to straight black hair. Zanon's pride and joy, however, where the eyes. He gave the man incredible eyesight, able to see clearly in all levels of light, from very bright to incredibly dark. A side-effect of the process gave the man red eyes, which were faintly luminous. Zanon never figured out the cause of this effect. He did not care to waste precious time with that. The eye augmentation had been a success, so why bother?

The experiment did not go as planned, however, as the man awoke prematurely, becoming berserk and enraged. It broke free of the bacta tank it was contained within. It had one thought in it's head. Kill. Zanon was easily overcome, slaughtered by the very thing he created. The laboratory was trashed and destroyed, and then the man left. What small semblance of sanity it possessed told it to leave, to get out, to find hope somewhere. It wandered for years, taking up the name Zereth Lancer somewhere down the road. With no memory of his past, Zereth had nothing in which to fill his life with. No memories to calm his shacking nerves, no family to crawl back to. He just wandered, and as he did so he found he had something in common with many of the lowlifes of the galaxy. He liked to fight.

He started out as a brawler, fighting in bars and in alleyways, usually for credits. He moved up, however, learning actual martial art styles. Before long he heard word of a group of martial artists that practiced an art they call Jiraiya, a martial art style that incorporates special weapon skills with concealment and stealth techniques, while also supporting a code of honor and discipline. Zereth spend many years learning the art of Jiraiya, and it changed his life forever. He left his rough and tumble, fight or flight attitude, adopting the serenity of a monk, but all the while possessing the battle prowess of a Mandalorian. He became a gentle fighter, who used words first, speaking deeply philosophical at times, and always resorting to violence last. But, when it comes down to it, there are few warriors on par with Zereth. He is truly a demon when it comes to war, able to wield many different kinds of weapons in battle with ease, his augmented strength and agility giving him an unnatural advantage.

His studies finished, Zereth left the Jiraiya dojo a new man. But he wanted more. He had this unslackable thirst for more power, for more knowledge, to learn more ways of fighting, to learn all that he could. Eventually he came in contact with a man named Drexel Kane, a sith lord who took the fledging warrior under his wing and trained him in the ways of the darkside of the force. At first Zereth resisted the all corrupting influence, but eventually he succumbed. He became brutal and animal, developing a natural skill for manipulating shadows with his mind. He also became a skilled lightsabre swordsman. As with any weapon, he fought with finesse and grace, but also power and strength when necessary. It was not long before he devoured all that Kane knew, and then the trial came. Zereth and Kane clashed atop Mount Huphren in the Tatooine Wasteland, and there they fought to the death, as was accustomed with the sith of the time. Zereth triumphed in the end, throwing the broken remains of his master from the highest point of the mountain, while the man still drew breath. He left and began his search again.

It was during this time of searching that he noticed something vital, and that was that he had physically aged more then a few years, and over fifty years had passed since he killed Zanon. He found this most peculiar. Retarded aging. It was useful, it would seem, so he paid it no mind.

In the years that followed he discovered the existence of a cult of sith on the planet Korriban. He traveled there and was instantly accepted into the ranks of The Sith Order. There he regained his calm, monk-like demeanor. In addition, he began to study the jedi, at first to better understand them so he could kill them, and then just because their ways intrigued him. He became very jedi-like in his thoughts and actions, a light sith, if ever such a thing ever existed. This caused him to hate what the sith stood for, but at the same time he could not let go. He argued that if he stayed then he could help keep the sith from causing atrocities against life. This ideology he brought upon himself would only lead to a number of internal misunderstandings.

It was not long before Zereth was anointed a Sith Knight and began training Apprentices in his unique understanding of the force.

Expanded History

Zereth fell in love with Jezreal Darkshard, but the woman of his affection soon died, murdered by a stormtrooper ambush on Tatooine that claimed her life and that of her brother. Zereth found their bodies and returned them to Korriban, where he learned that one of his greatest companions, Southstar, had also died in the same stretch of time as Jezreal. This drove Zereth into bitter denial of everything he thought he believed. He became cold and cruel, in his own way. However, in remembrance of the two who died, he named his two lightsabres, one of his own creation and the other Jezreal's old sabre, after the two deceased. Southstar and Darkshard, their silver and red beams would act as never ending beacons devoted to their memory.

Aftermath

Pre-Reset

Zereth Lancer grew up on Corellia like any other child. The only thing that separated him from other children was the fact that he was a mix of Corellian and Nagai blood. He never knew his Corellian father and lived alone with his Nagai mother. He inherited features from both of his parents. His hair was black as space and spiky, his skin was on the paler side, both were traits of the Nagai. The traits he did not carry over from his mother were the Nagai's pointed ears and their small dark eyes. He looked very much like a human with spiky hair and pale skin.

When Zereth was young he was plucked off the streets of Corellia by the infamous, brilliant, not to mention insane, scientist Zanon O'hara. The scientist took Zereth and performed wild and unheard of experiments on the young boy. Years of painful experiments and physical modifications followed, with Zereth remained unconscious for nearly the entire length of the time span. His physical size, muscle mass, reflex time and speed was increased. His bones were strengthened and his senses heightened, his eyesight and night vision was increased but a side-effect of the alterations turned his eye color red and gave them glowing qualities like those of the fictional dark beings called vampires. In all appearances he was the perfect warrior. His memory was wiped and his memory of his past and species was forgotten. Things went wrong for Zanon when Zereth awoke prematurely from a high sedative and broke free of his restraints and out of the bacta tank he had been recovering in. He fled the laboratory without looking back once.

Once outside he spent several miserable years as he slowly rejoined society as a whole and integrated himself into it. For the most part he mindlessly wandered through the galaxy, gaining money where he could find work and killing for it when he could not. An incredible power hunger had been instilled within his very being and he wanted nothing more then to become all powerful. He searched for and found many willing men and women to train him in the ways of their martial arts or weapon styles. Zereth learned many things and passed from one trainer to the next just as soon as he had learned all there was. Eventually he found a group of secret martial artists who called themselves the "Ninja". These Ninja taught Zereth a martial art called Ninjustsu. Here he learned self-control and a sense of spiritualism. His learned the meaning of honor, the importance of looking at everything from all angles, and how to suppress his craving for more power through meditation. He learned how to manipulate many weapons and devices of the Ninja, such as curved blades, throwing weapons, and explosives, as well as learning how to manufacture deadly toxins from poisonous herbs and other organic materials. His time with the Ninja turned him from a power hungry murderer into a free-thinking warrior who battled with finese rather then brute force.

It was not until after he finished learning ninjustsu that Zereth realized that he had not physically aged more then a few years in the last fifty years that had passed. By all means he should be a grey old man, but he does not look a day over thirty. Extended life was another evident 'gift' bestowed upon him by Zanon's augmentations. The extent of this stunted aging is unknown, but it may preserve his life forever. Thus making him immune to the flow of time. Zereth has used this extended lifespan to learn as much as he possibly can about the arts of combat.

Zereth wandered the Galaxy for many more years before discovering The Sith Order, and the force that lay dormant within himself. He travelled to Corellia and joined The Sith Order. He came under the tutelage of Sith Knight Salem Ave and later Sith Knight Je'gan Olra'en. He finished his basic training and attained the rank of Sith Knight and began taking on students of his own, training them in the arts of the sith.
